Bringing Chris

to Town

Here comes the grassroots portion of the acoustic music world. Are you wishing for more good guitar music? Would you like Chris to perform in your area? Do you know of a good venue for solo guitar performance, workshop or master class? Can you help us make the music happen?

You would be amazed how often Chris' concerts and workshops happen through suggestions from friends and fans. Each year he does ten to twenty additional shows that have been initiated, promoted or helped along by venue suggestions through this web site. Some are house concerts hosted by fans and friends, some occur at local folk and guitar societies, while others happen at music stores, festivals, and colleges and universities. In some cases, friends and fans find the venues, make the arrangements, promote the shows, and make entire concerts happen from soup to nuts.

In addition to his concerts, workshops, master classes, and private lessons are three additional services that Chris offers to the guitar community, and also great ways for Chris to utilize early weekdays, or Saturday or Sunday afternoons when he is touring but has open time available. Most often these events are staged at your local superior music stores, in afternoon and early evening time slots. If you're interested in seeing any of these events happen, please get in touch with Chris with venue suggestions and other ideas. Recent successful workshops, master classes and private lessons have taken place at Guitars Etc. in Ft. Collins, CO, Elderly Instruments in Lansing, MI, Herb David Guitars in Ann Arbor, MI, Guitarworks in Indianapolis, IN, and The Guitar Lab in Evansville, IN.

Venues come and go in the folk world, and often times locals know where things are happening and where they're not better than touring artists do. In any case, we'd love your suggestions and your help. Send us an e-mail. Give us any particulars, venue information, names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, street addresses and other contact information that might help us get started. Hey, it's a big country, and it's hard for us to keep track of the wacky world of changing venues and personalities across 50 states and several provinces.

Make sure you check out the Upcoming Appearances page to see where Chris plans to travel; if Chris is headed your way or you see gaps and want to make things happen, give us a holler. If you're a guitar fan who wonders why Chris hasn't visited your city recently, give us some ideas, or propose a house concert, and see what happens. This year these suggestions have brought Chris to New York, Washington, Florida, Maryland, Wisconsin, Michigan and Kentucky so it's definitely worth the e-mail time. Thanks in advance for the help.
